TAKE ME WITH YOU

Take me with you

As you leave me behind

Like the wisps of a candle

After the fire dies

Take me with you

Before the sparrows wake up

Let us be the clouds

That threaten the sky

Before the thunders gasp

Before the winds whisper again

Before the crow cries

Before the willows sing again

Before the leaves fall on the lake

Before the iris unfolds again

Bringing back the songs we shared

Before the earth becomes raw again

And I begin digging your grave

Don't leave me

In this orchard called life

The trees will thrive

The apples will redden with my blood

But wilt as soon as they ripe

Take me with you

Don't leave me to thaw

Winter seems harsher

After summer's lies

Don't leave me to thaw

As the snow turns to ice

As it tries to kill the soul inside

But passes through

Finding nothing inside

Don't leave me in this night

Darker than darkness

To grasp at the figures

Conjured from the shadows in my eyes

Don't leave me to gaze at this dawn

Alone without the eyes that saw

Life and hope instead of

Hail and snow

They say, give is to purge

Forgive is to love

Am I a sinner

If I take and remember?

What must I give

When nothing is left behind?

Take me with you

Don't flow along this river

While I struggle under mud and debris

You flow on to eternity

This river is cruel

It pushes me towards the shore

It rescues me

When I want to drown .
