THE WORLD AS AN OCEAN
If you see but the beauty
In a blossoming flower
What would you see when it withered?
What would you feel when you crushed it
In your arms?
What would you see when it died?
The black you gave and red that remained
Or the blood and the hate?
Pain
Or regret?
Would you remember what it was?
Would you remember what it could have been
Before you left it to burn
Under the wretched sun?
If the world was an ocean
Life was a beach
Would you sit yonder
Holding the sand
Crying as it fell from your hands
Only to be washed away
Before dawn
When she had been shells
You fed her no song to echo
But the sound of the waves that killed her
As they broke her little by little
The sky above this ocean
Is one where day and night
Resides side by side
When day falls the stars hide under the ocean
As ripples and specks of light
They forget that this sky
Is god's own heaven
When night falls
Darkness swallows the light
The young will age one day
Becoming the weeds that shroud
The well of wishes behind the manor house
Black spreads wildly in water when it sees
That there is no colour but he
When you wait longingly
For the sea
To leave you a treasure
Remember
She only returns what's ours
Not what's someone else's
As you try to find the end of this world
Wonder
How many tears it took
To make an ocean.
