DELIRUM
To kiss your tears
As they fall
Soothe my lips
They are Holy Water
Washing my sins.
Not in this life
But in another
I shall collect them
In vials of glass
To keep close to my wretched heart.
To gaze into your eyes
I wonder how the lids askew
Could keep such fire burning
Within.
Could it not erupt and burn me?
Drown me so deep
That I may succumb
As cinders on your feet?
Closer and closer you draw to me
In a graveyard, slowly, Alas!
As I touch you
You crumble to dust
Ashes, thorns and debris.
Wake up! Wake up!
Someone cries
I look up to see
Your dust forming
Windows, sheets, curtains and
Rods of steel
No! No! I cry
Shaking the bars that imprison you from me
Now I must die
Life leave me!
For in this life
You were but a dream.
