THE SKY IS STILL BEAUTIFUL
In this world of human affairs
No one can ever be alone
When one is in solitude
Darkness clouds over
I'm alone
I'm trapped
In bars and shackles
That I myself wrought.
When one is surrounded
The clouds move on
To trap you
And then you fall down.
When I looked up
I saw a thousand faces
Marred and grisly
In masks I painted.
Why mind do you act to hurt me?
Have I not been a faithful friend?
Was my only fault that
My eyes could see
The figures disappearing
Into the water
The blood spilling
The spirits dying
I tried to stop
The noise of the crashing world
But it was too loud
And I was too tired.
Forgive me if I sinned
We are all the same
The homes we make of brick and mortar
All have graves
The stairs that lead to the rooftop
The stairs that disappear into the undergrowth.
Some stray while sliding down the banister
Those who walk never look back.
Among this crowd I hear music
But it is too faint
And the noise of the world too loud.
The crowd screams
As the thunder strikes
And breaks the ground.
A chasm forms.
I am left behind
The sky is torn
It bleeds onto me
Blood covers all
Yet the others never feel
The drops trickling
The eyes closing
The breaths shuddering
The cracks widening.
I slip on the wet dewed grass
But I do not sink
I lay there and gaze up
I see
The sky is still beautiful.
