LITTLE GIRL
Little girl
Little girl
Where are you going?
To host a feast
Where the fairies are coming
You are the queen
With your paper crown
The weeds of this garden
Are invisible to thee
You go walking down the beach
Your feet leaves marks on the wet sand
Under the golden sky
It draws a line of knowledge and ignorance
Inside it you dance
The crooked mountains cradle the sun
They are cracks between heaven and earth
She dozes to sleep as the winds sing to her
The song of all the things she did not yet learn
The moonlight turns darker in a forbidden room
Shadows come to life and dance in the gloom
The paper crown falls over her eyes
Yet she sees the shadows materialize
Someone tells her not to cry
She hurries to the nursery
In the large world
She tramples in the crowd
No ones notices
The birds flying at dawn
Behind the waking sky
Anymore
Little girl
Little girl
You sit on the beach
A thousand sand grains under your feet
The waves wash over you
Yet they are cold
The winds sing no more
They are songless and hollow.
She cries no longer
She had forgotten to cry years ago
Someone told her not to
The seagulls cry for her
Filling the skies with rain
Vanishing in the sea.
Burn me till I crumble to dust
Then take the ashes of my wisdom
Away from me.
