HEARTLESS

We are not heartless
We have beared

We have stood over this earth
When it rained thunder
And stood still
When all the tall trees fell.

We have frosted in snow
In the bitter cold hail
Yet still stretched out
Giving warmth
To dying flowers wild.

We beared the millions of edges
Of sharpened knives
Shards of glass
We never screamed
We never cried.

We are not strenghtened
We are numb
Too senseless by pain.

The only reason we trudge on
Is that one day
We will reach a place
Where the tears we shed
In unison
Lost among crowds
In the rain
Tears mixing with heaven's waters
In dark places
For pity was too indulging
In silent screams
Would echo in the valleys and mountains
Vales and canyons
Reaching the skies
Reaching the place
We call heaven.
