OPPRESSED
I am oppressed
Under the night sky.
In the ballrooms filled with light
Where I am free to dance underneath
A thousand chandeliers
I am bonded still.
I ran wildly
Across the fields of lavender
Across the hinterlands
Where nothing grew
Along the roads that entwined
With the shadows of the mountains.
I have ridden the mist
When it sailed to distant horizons
To give the Herald of the coming storm.
I have stood atop the rugged hills
As the rain poured over the mires I lit
A fire that never died.
As my spirit leaps into the dusk it will reach
An empty place
The Fields of Abandonment
And there she will lay silently
To sleep.
Therefore,
Bind me
Before I ever reach that place
In a dungeon where
Firelight dances along the cold walls.
Chain me unto a rock
But do open the door sometimes
So that light could nourish
My fading eyes.
For in this prison of silent screams
I know I shall sing
I know I shall wander.
